I know this is subjective and probably been asked many times, but how long should I expect the clutch to last. What are the tell tale signs ? Any comments would be much appreciated.

large amount of pedal travel is a good indicator, ie from floor to biting point. Also put into 5th about 40 and floor the throttle, if the car doesn't gather speed the clutch is slipping.

A new clutch is expensive (£700 ish fitted), you will not recoup that so dont bother if your trading in - dealers problem, ie make them work their margin.

Cheers
