cv boot burst!!
right, the inner drivers side cv boot has burst on my 1998 impreza gl.. ive got the drive shaft out.. but can the inner cv joint be separated from the shaft??? please help!!

Sorry mate just seen this and meant to reply earlier today, but I got busy. I hope that you haven't managed yet as l am wasting all our time if it a fixed peoblem.
Take the drive shaft off and remove the boot locating clips. Inside the boot will be a big circlip in the outer rim that allows you to pull the shaft and the cage with the ***** in, out of the big knuckle with the splines on.
Once out, look at the end of the shaft inside the cage end and there is another circlip to remove to allow the shaft out of the cage.
Quite simple really, just rather messy and l would wash it all out and repack before reassembling.
To reassemble just reverse the above.
