Default syntrax gear oil

as anybody had crunching syncros cured by using syntrax oil?got what apears to be a syncro letting go 5th gear on a 6 speed box just changed oil to silcolene which appears to have made it worse, keep hearing good things about syntrax but don,t want to waste another £50 on oil which could go towards a box rebuild.thanks dean

It cured the 5th gear crunch on my 99my which started after trying Syn5. Too nervous to try full-syn in my current 6sp in case a similar problem occurs!

I'm in the same boat chap...just about to buy syntrax but wont be able to test until next March time as delaying the MOT etc due to other bills and DIY.
I hope it will fix, I've heard nothing but good reports on that oil and I can re-use the Silkolene I've got on my other motor's box so nothing wasted.

Mine does into 5th always when booting and sometimes 3rd or she's hard to select (partly due to worn gearbox mount), but when driving normal, all gear changes are sweet.
