Question

I was looking through some other posts and visited jap-inovations web site, they have a qucikshift that is really cheap £59, what exactly does a quick shift do and are they worth getting? (i presume it shortens the gearstick movement?)

At this price I dont understand why they arnt more popular. Is this an upgrade worth doing or is there a reason that I should know about why everyone doesnt have them..

thanks

Leon

I have a GGR one fitted to my MY96 and it makes a huge difference in reducing the throw between gears. Only down side is that it made the shift feel quite stiff but I got used to it quickly.

I think you get 2 different types, 1st is just a replacement lever (I have this) and 2nd is a full set of linkages (by Prodrive etc. circa £250)

As far as I know they are not that effective on MY99 and newer models as they have a much shorter throw to begin with.

I have a Prodrive quickshift on my '00, and although the shift is shorter on these later cars, the quickshift 'feels' more sporty.

In conjunction with a Momo gear ****, which sits about 3/4" lower than the original ****, the shift is very firm, which personally I like.

I had a Prodrive Q/S on mine but swapped it for a BRD Q/S... and a MOMO gear ****.... now even shorter than the Prodrive one and better(IMHO) Very happy and wouldn't go back!

Definatly a mod to do.

Looks like it would be a worthwhile mod on an older car but possibly not on mine... its fairly cheap so I might give it a go, want a new De Catted centre section first tho

If I go for it il let you know if its worthwhile..

P.S Is it snowing where you are.... it is here shame its a few days late for Xmas.

There's instructions on fitting a Cusco one to a '98 at www.i-club.com - looks in the mods section.

Thumbs up

Just fitted mine this afternoon

Got this one from jap-innovations good price and damn good fitment(imho)

It's shortened the gearstick throw quite nicely on my MY95.

I would say worth while mod to do

It's fairly straight forward, there are 2 approaches, bruit force or carefull dismantling, both seem to work fine.

Details of how to do the full dismantle option can be found Here
