PPP, Magnex, SS- backboxes and performance
#1
Hello guys,
My question to you is as follows:
In terms of performance how well does the PPP backbox scores compared to other aftermarket backboxes? On my 99 WRX I have a magnex downpipe, magnex mid-section, and a PPP backbox. My question is whether by switching to a different backbox, e.g SS or magnex, my car will produce more horsepower.
Cheers

As an estimate I would say between boxes there would probably only be about 2 or 3 BHP difference, as they prob only give you a maximum of 10BHP anyway
Personnaly I would put the Prodrive and Scoobysport at the top, as they are made by Subaru Enthusiasts for Subaru's and not just mass marketed like the Magnex.
Although saying that, Magnex have always produced good quality products at a very resonable price.
i.e
The Scoobysport is about £300
The Prodrive WR Box is about £350
but the Magnex is only £200
I've had a Scoobysport, Magnex and now a Prodrive box on the back on my MY94, and without the wizardry of a rolling road am unable to tell the difference. Other than the noise variations...which may fool you into thinking you are going faster.....
Stick with what you've got mate, it's not worth the dosh. For what may be very little gain, if any at all.
