Could understand wanting to make it rear wheel drive, ultimately slower but loads of fun! But as everyone else says why on earth would you want to go front wheel drive?

Either way though you'll need to disconnect the drive you don't want. Don't fully understand it but you'd need to lock the centre diff or else all the power will be shunted to the non-connected drive and wasted.

Depends if its an auto. I know with the legacy auto just stick a fuse in a holder under the bonnet (fuse holder marked up front wheel drive) and its then front wheel drive. This is used for towing if i remember correctly.
