Best way to get a uk turbo 2000 to 300-330 bhp
I'm sorry if this has been posted a million times before but here goes:
What will I need to do, in order, and rough prices if possable, to get a '99 turbo 2000 to around the 330 bhp mark?
Its gunna be used as a daily driver for the 30 mile per day commute to work, so it MUST be a reliable 330 bhp, so what reliabilty mods should I carry out aswell?
Thanks for reading

Hi mate
My UK97 ran a reliable 330 for a period of time on the standard TMIC and 380 injectors. Mods if I remember consisted of:
Full decat
Scoobysport back box
Open neck down pipe
Uprated fuel pump
Samco hoses
Fuel Pressure Regulator
TD05 FE turbo
Powertec Induction kit
Apexi ECU mapped by Andy Forrest
HKS EVC 5 Boost controller running 1.35
Ended up soon nneding a new clutch so factor that in (AP item was £650.00 fitted) and the gearbox started to show slight strain once I went a bit further with the torque. Upgraded brakes a must IMO and suspension upgrades to match. Did the power mods on a budget of around £3.5k labour included.
Used every day and a pleasure it was too

You can do it quite cheaply
Mine runs 330 and didn't cost the earth
Lagged Magnex 3" decat down pipe £195 (You can get a 2nd hand for around £80)
5Zigen 3" decat centre
5Zigen Border 308 back box (You can budget anywhere around £200+ for the two)
Hybrid FMIC (£450 including replacement dump valve and extras)
VF28 Turbo Paid £125 for mine off ebay
K&N induction kit £100
Tek 3 Remap £500
Standard injector and fuel pump are okay for this level but most people change the fuel pump(I haven't).
most of the above can be fitted yourself or have someone like API sort it all out for you.
As already said the clutch won't last, I've got an exedy on mine along with a lightened flywheel and I had to replace the gear box within 3 weeks as 3rd blew itself apart but since then I've had 15 months of trouble free motoring (Apart from a coulpe of sensors )
Brakes and suspension are very important.
Gold Brembo's off a newage STI are a really good upgrade and only cost me £45 for the switch. I bought a brand new full set for £570, Sold the rears for £275 and my old 4 pots for £275 and I had to pay £25 to have the PCD redrilled.
I've got STI6 Ltd Suspension on mine with whiteline products (Droplink,ARB and Strutbrases) and find this to be a fantastic setup. I paid £400+Vat for a low mileage set

How many miles has your gearbox done? If its average miles, from experience, the gearbox wont last long. I blew mine apart last night, it lasted exactly 25 days @ 300-315lbft of torque.
That aside I would highly recommend doing the mods, totally tranforms the car, very big smiles (broken gearbox aside!)

Look at my thread: 'Floyd's economy stage III' in projects for one of the cheapest ways to do it reliably. What I will say is that you may need a clutch, gearbox, suspension and brakes, which all add up... You could whack a TD05 on it and hope for the best and it'll probably get you 300+ with a remap but you'll be testing the reliability!
