Default 2005 STi - Quickshift Kit

Hi Guys,

Would a quickshift kit (made by STi) on a 6MT MY05 STi cause any harm to the gearbox?

What im trying to say i guess is... would it wear faster with a quickshift?

The Quickshift simply shortens the distance the gear **** travels between gears on the gate. The fact the distance is shi=orter means you get from 2nd to 3rd (say) faster, so 'Quick Shift'.

That's it.

It will not harm the box.

If you really ****** the shift then maybe you can beat the synchro, but I doubt it. If you raise the clutch pedal too soon, then it might go bang.

All down to your skill!

yeah 05 sti.
i like it cos i always thought oe one was too long and as said above have it on the shortest setting feels good when driving fast and obviously feels firmer when changing.
It takes a bit of getting used to as at first you don't think your in gear with been used to oe one but now i wouldn't swop it back suits my style of driving.
accelaration wise it my make a slight difference but very slight but does feel tons better than oe one when changing gear.

but as another opinion my friend doesn't like it thinks its too short a throw but you do have 3 setting holes and also a moving fixing point so can be set to your own prefrance.

so its a top bit of kit in my opinion compared to the rest out there.

hope that helps RLE

ps you done anything more to yours since bob remap?

Thanks mate. Might treat myself to one and give it a go. Can I retain my current Prodrive gear ****?

Remap was last mod and probably will be I think going forward. Not much more I can do now without going the FMIC route and this is something I dont think I'll want come resale time. Just short of 400bhp now and still nice and useable on the town roads. Clutch may be the next thing to get uprated though.

Hows things with you.......any more plans for this year?

Apologies for the hijack Marmski............wish I wouldn't have seen this thread now though! Looks like I'm getting a quickshift

yeah you can keep gear **** as its same as standard top wise.

not sure what i'm doing as of yet in 2 minds either to do same as you or wait til i can afford to push it to 500+ in one go so guess funds will decide.

on yours have you still got standard cluch and how long with current power so can price up what needs to be bought to go to near 400 cos yours is TD05 18g with standard injectors and which headers?

sorry as well for the hijack Marmski
