Is it a new car or a re-built engine?
If the latter and it's had a re-bore/de-glaze and new pistons, don't use anything "better" than a semi-synthetic. A basic mineral oil will allow proper bedding in of the mating parts. As an example, Millers do an oil specifically for running-in. Don't use a full synthetic oil for a few thousand miles, your engine may not bed-in properly at all!
