Default clutch peddal

I had a new clutch from API a few months ago now, the clutch is awesome but i have a little problem.

when i change gear at about 5.5k - 6k the peddal sticks to the floor but the clutch does not slip ?

I have tried beeding the clutch and it has made it better but it still does every 5 out of 10 times though ?

anyone else had this problem or any ideas what it could be ?

cheers

Dan

Have you checked the return spring on the clutch lever arm under the intercooler. These some times snap off.

Common problem, had it myself.
Try:

The small light spring above only stops the thrust bearing from rattles, but should be there anyway! If not fit one (dealer = about £1)

Bleed the clutch this way:

Remove cylinder off gearbox, remove shaft.
Clamp piston right down in the bore and bleed till really flushed.
Replace everything after topping up etc.

That should/might fix it.

If not:

Remove the large assister springs off the top of the pedal assembly under the dash. Bloody awkward but doable in 30 mins.
I had to do this to mine. The pedal position at the top of the stroke looses some precision but you will get used to it, and the pedal is about 10% heavier.

That will/should do it.

If not:

Take a good hard look at the 2 steel dowls that locate the box on the engine, one either side, and about 10mm in diameter.
Are both there? If one is missing then fir a replacement. I made this mistake and one side fell out while fighting the box back into plce after replacing the clutch.
I SERIOUSLY DOUBT API WILL HAVE DONE THIS but worth a look!

If that lot does not fix it call David at API.

Graham.
