Me car gets a bit stroppy when you try to start her warm.

It only happens on really short journeys tho. If i drive less than 2 miles then stop i have troble starting again. Over 2 miles seems to be fine. ??????????

Any ideas?

I have exactly the same problem. Most likely the Cam or Crank position sensor. Need to get it on a Select Monitor or do a check on the ECU for error codes (do a search for this - there are some recent threads about it - including one started by me).

A dealer can get and fit a new one for about £90 I think but I have one on the way from Midland Impreza parts for £40 + VAT and will put it on myself

as ricky said plug the black connectors in under dash turn ignition to on without starting engine check light will flash count the number long = 10 short = 1

11 is crank sensor (1 long, 1 short)
13 is cam sensor (1 long 3 short)

doddle to replace just need a 10mm (iirc) spanner and about 5 minutes.

No you don't, follow Si's (Cookie) instructions.

Fitted my crank sensor in about 5 minutes and touch wood all has been fine since.

Look high up under the steering wheel by the steering column. You should see a pair of green connectors (ie 1 male 1 female) and a pair of black connectors - both of which are used when doing the ECU reset (www.mrtrally.com.au has instructions for this).

The black ones are the ones being spoken about here and need connecting together. You may have to hunt a bit and there is a good chance they might be taped together

I stopped for petrol this morning and the car wouldnt re-start so i whacked the black connectors together and..........one long flash, one short one.

Where did you order the sensor from?

I got it from a breakers called Midland Impreza I think. I don't know their number and search is down.

You can try looking through Drivetrain in the last 30 - 50 days - I have a post about this with their address on it.

Sorry I can't help more.

Tell a lie - just looked in my favourites...

Hope this helps
