Default Best Modifications?

Just about to organise my car being pampered.

Am looking at taking her to Scoobyclinic and having either the 2nd or 3rd package as listed below. I already have the exhaust but was wondering if anyone knows of a better induction or turbo set up for the classic MY99. Want to make sure i do the best for her

I am totally confused with regards to turbos as there are so many varieties!

And are K & N induction kits deemed to be the best?

Any advice greatly appreciated!

Thanks in anticipation

Vicki

They lOOk spot on and Scoobyclinic is highly regarded by most.

They probably have tested different induction kits with their package and found the K&N to work best, hence using it. (And yes they are good)

You'll be chuffed with PP3, a new car almost. Will go like stink too.

The other alternative, which will save you money, would be to supply the parts yourself, possibly second-hand. But that can be a load of hastle. But you'll get a VF35 turbo for around £280-300 2nd hand. So that saves you £500 already.

I think they are much the same except that the VF34 has roller bearings (VF35 are plain) and this helps it spool up faster. VF35 is standard on new age STi and with my remap from SC (328/300 with PPP cat) it spools up quick enough for me. This sort of power in a classic would make it well quick as they're 200 kg lighter than my new age.

I suggest you just talk to SC and ask them what they think is best for your car, they're very helpful. Pack 2 looks the least attractive as you spend the money on the turbo and then don't make best use of it by not getting the injectors and fuel pump.

Correct me if I am wrong

VF34 is roller bearing with a p18 housing

VF35 is sleeve bearing but with a p15 housing.

This means the VF35 spools faster than the VF34, but the VF34 will have more top end power, on the 7000rpm redline UK cars the VF35 is the better turbo IMO as it produces full boost lower down the rev range.

Didn't know that, won't be changing my VF35 for a 34 then.

Cheers, Diccy.

vf34 is a roller bearing version of the vf35, vf35 has slightly smaller exhaust from it speeding up spooling, so not realy much in it so i've been told

I've done the TD04 hybrid option. 300bhp now and remap to suit tweeks should see me to 320 in the New Year.

Its not cost me the figures your quoting, but Im a DIY bloke and it has been hastle.

300 - 330 will be top, but just go easy at first. Mines come along in stages but getting it all in one go will be an eye opener :-)
