Had a similar problem with my old RB5.

Don't suppose it's mostly once the car is heated up, maybe for 20 minutes or so?

If so, it's your centre diff.

To be honest I only normally revers the car when I'm leaving work so the car is always cold. Centre diff - sounds expensive Was it easy to replace?

Cheers

My MY06 STi does this, and its down to the DCCD. With mine I either lift the handbrake one notch so the light is on, or set the dccd to green (back position), and it cures it.

If Flatoutscooby doesn't have DCCD, then that is still a problem mate.

I got mine done under warranty. It's a gearbox out and split job.

DCCD i wish, just plain Jane UK MY97 unfortunately! Cheers drb5 sounds like it's time for a back breaking box out session. Or step up the search for the holy grail (Type R box).

Cheers

It does sound like the centre diff has locked up.

It can be changed with the box still in the car
