never reused an old oil seal unless you wanna pay for labour twice. Not really worth the effort since oil seal are quite cheap. just go n buy an original from subaru

scoobboy: yes shaft is the same but check out the oil seal on the inner spline going into the transmission is different. they may look the same but they are not. I had experience transplanting this before and though it was the same also but it was always leaking tranny oil once it roll. in the end i check the oil seal and the cv joint is not the same on the V7 n V8

Scoobboy: you just need to buy the oil seal for the correct inner cv joint going to the tranny which you plan on using.

It depends on what box type it is. Sc0oby's confusion comes from the fact that the later 6 speed boxes have drive shafts with integral stubs. However up until the 05 car they share the same type of shaft, using a seperate stub in the gearbox.

sti8 are the same as STI7 up until 05 on the UK cars. The 05 shafts, which are found on the 05-> cars with the 114.5mm pcd hubs, are larger, and I guess stronger.

I wouldn't be too worried about getting the larger shafts unless you have something very special in the engine bay.

So i will be ok fitting the sti8 shafts for my sti7 ones without having to replace the seals and there will be no leaks, as dont wanna have to pay to get these pulled out if leaking and top up oil.

If i do need to replace the seals, can you give me a part number Zen?

Cheers
