Changing transmission fluids....
It's time for me to change the fluids in my transmission....so I've a couple of questions...
What is required to change all fluids, i.e. is it just the gearbox and rear differential that need their fluids changing or have I forgotten something?
What oil and grades do you recommend for each? Are there any items you can recommend to make the job any easier?
Car in question is a 1997 Version 3 STI RA V-Limited (non dccd).
Thanks in advance,
Brian.

Yes, it just the two sections (gearbox & rear diff), the centre and front diffs are contained inside the gearbox and share the same fluids.
You will need 4 litres of 75W-90 gear oil for the gearbox and 1 litre for the rear diff (it's just less than a litre).
For the gearbox Castrol syntrax/driveline is well recommended on here, it's what I use. There are others, do a search.
For the rear diff your car should have a plated LSD so you need to use an oil that is for that purpose, I used Castrol B373 in my STi Ra.
Some tools to make the jobs easier would be a big syringe to fill the rear diff and a funnel with a long flexible neck to fill the gearbox (Halfords do a good one).

Thanks buddy - just wanted to check what was required first to avoid the "Oh Christ, I've forgotten something but now the car's in pieces" scenario!
