Appology given To mike for correcting me !

The following is NOT aimed at Mike

So if someone works for a company, you are saying that they have no justifcation in saying anything on behalf of that company on any matter.
I was only acting upon information given to me by a member of staff at Prodrive. He stated that if I could get hold of the version I required, the company would copy it for me (I am at a loss to understand how that can be viewed as 'piracy' if they own the software in the first place). He even made a phone call in the presence of me & my wife to find out if they still had the software for pre MY96, and was told that they didn't and that my only option was to find someone who already had the software and copy it.

There are a lot of people on here that would like to have the Ecu upgrade but did not know that it was still available most people thought it was no longer an option so being the nice person that I am, I was trying to get the ball rolling and making some people happy.

huxley

I am waiting for Mike wood to contact me to discuss this further.

END OF TOPIC............................................. ........

Huxley,

Just to recap...

You say "I want a pre-97 Prodrive ECU to clone..."

I point out it is piracy to copy software without the owners permission and highlight the post to John....

Said owner makes his presence known..

You say "it really f**ks me off when people comment without knowing what they are talking about..."

So who exactly doesn't know what they are talking about ?

I am also interested that your "story" above has now changed to Prodrive will copy the EPROM for you from an original....

Do you think a thread would have been removed if it was about someone helping Prodrive out ?

I don't doubt your intentions were good and I also like to be helpful where I can (I supplied the URL mentioned in the thread if you remember) but when people start slagging everyone off when they are wrong is very sad....

Thanks

Gavin

No my king reply was why poke your nose when you havn't heard both sides of the conversation like i said,
"it really F**** me off when someone has to jump in say you cant do that when you have been told to do something and when they don’t know the facts of the conversation between the two parties involved..."

My 'story' has not changed at all - I can not be held responsible for anyone jumping to conclusions when they are not in posession of the full facts (ie, they weren't there when I was speaking to the member of staff from Prodrive who told me that if I was able to get a copy they would copy if for me, "or do it yourself"). I believed that a member of staff would be a valid representative of the company and therefore any information that was given to me would be sound!

"why poke your nose when you havn't heard both sides of the conversation ..." and
"I can not be held responsible for anyone jumping to conclusions when they are not in posession of the full facts.."

With the legal undertones recently, the first question is pretty obvious really....

The second question - this is a public forum - if you create a post without the full "facts" provided what conclusions are readers supposed to come to? Sorry and all that but you can be held responsible if a post is inaccurate and/or misleading....

It amazes me the lengths people will go to in avoiding admitting they were wrong and apologising.....

RIP

Thanks

Gavin

Like i said When you are given information from a member of staff from a COMPANY "YES SOME GUY THAT WORKS THERE !" a part of the company you have no reason not to belive the information provided by him a "Representative" of the company so as far as we were concernd we had all the facts and information provided by him,

So it looks like if you go to a solicitor for some information and he gives you some you should not belive it becasue he is just "some guy who works for them" same applies if you phone up a member of a customer service team for a company the information they provide is false is it so

Basicly ---- off and mind your own business because you don't have ALL THE FACTS and you were not there.

Why was this deleted....there are plenty of other forums that pirate software.

Come on guys, how many of you have got 100% legit s/w on your PC.
And how many of you have hacked into 'On Digital' using information obtained from a Digital TV BBS.

Does this BBS really have to take everything so seriously.

Huxley, mail me off-line if you have any more info.....

Of course everyone on here has no pirate software at all and I expect everyone has registered their software with the companies that provide it.

Perfect - moi, I think not....

The only G.O.D. you need to worry about is:

Get Over it this Decade....

But normally, I am perfectly polite - apart from when people start shooting [their mouth off at] the messenger when they don't like the message...

Thanks

Gavin

Talking to yourself again ?

With all that hot air, no wonder you float around in the clouds above us mere "low life" mortals...

It's no good begging them to close the thread just so you can say you had the last word....

Thanks

an I add something from a lega; copyriht point of view please?

Your assumption that you are allowed to infringr copyright because an employee said so is wrong. You can only be given this right by the owner of the copyright or the owner of the exclusive license, in the case of a limited company the owner will be the director. The likelihood is however that this software will remain the property of its author who i am willing to bet was contracted to produce this and will retain rights in the production in exchange for payment with prodrive being guaranteed a license to use the software.

Personally I don't give a ---- the matter has now been sorted and your reply is nearly a week late!

The response from the company involved in this matter has been excellent and has been sorted and I have no reason to carry this matter on I would just like to say thank you to "some chap who happens to work there".

Can we please put a stop to this rubbish now ??

I think that everyone had made their points, whether warranted or not, and the continued posting of these sorts of messages can only have a negative effect on the Scoobynet community as a whole.

FYI - The moderators spend a great deal of their personal time, without any reward (not even an occasional thank you from most of the 9000+ members!!), to ensure that the BBS runs smoothly and to try to ensure that there is no chance of any potentially liabelous (sp?) or otherwise damaging comments being posted. Decisions to delete threads are not taken lightly, and usually involve discussions between several of us and the owner before they are removed. If anyone has a problem with a thread being removed then please contact the moderators or Simon directly, do not clog up the BBS further by starting a "Why was my thread deleted/removed" thread.

No one asked my opinion on the subject it was just deleted so what happend to "Decisions to delete threads are not taken lightly, and usually involve discussions between several of us and the "owner" before they are removed"

If you want to put a stop to it then LOCK the thread,i tried to put a stop on it on November 19 at 19:13 but no it was not done then people kept putting their five pence worth in and so it snowballs.
