Loudish whiring noise from power steering?
My scoob (MY97 UK Turbo) has picked up a whiring noise in what I am guessing is the power steering pump?
Noticed it about a week ago when the enguine gets hot (Hard driving) thought it was gear box so checked oil (was low and topped it up) but then I noticed I could still hear it in nutrual when I pick the revs up and turn the wheel, so I am concluding it is the power steering, and occasionally I get a vibration through the wheel when turning?
Any ideas or do I need a new power steering pump, if so what kind of money do you think I am looking at?
Thanks for your help
Chris..
P.S I have checked the power steering fluid

I'm 95% sure it's your fluid. When it looks topped up, it's not actually full at all, and will still whine. Keep pouring it in until it starts to come OVER the full mark. You'll be surprised at how much more it will take.
I say 95% because there's only a 5% chance that you carried on filling it up even after it said it was full! No-one would do that unless they knew. It's a stupid system.
