Howdy,

Getting on towards 70k in my sport special and the clutch is getting steadily worse. The local dealer wants close to a grand for a new clutch, but I was wondering just how hard it is to do on the driveway (I have access to a pit). I'm not mechanically incompetent, but have not worked on an impreza before.

Any advice gratefully recieved (including pointing, laughing and recommending a good specialist in the Gloucester/Stroud area!)

I Had my clutch and flywheel done on my sport, took it to TH Whites in cirencester,even they had troubles as i still had slight judder when i got it back, had flywheel/clutch/seals all done too.

when i took it back, they got a specialist down as they were pissed they had to redo a £700 job,the guy was from the makers of the parts or something, they basically redid all the faces in a way of the gearbox/engine faces and made them sit totally flush.

it wa sbetter after that,they also fitted an my04 clutch/flywheel kit,these comes pre balanced and marked up so there is no judder.

i did mine myself on my my94wrx not same car i know but after been qouted £500 plus for a clutch to be fiitted and almost having a heart attack from the shock i did it myself took me a few hours did it the engine out way just take your time and it will be ok
