Isn't it possible to have it operating at fully lock by just pressing a button conveniently located on the steering wheel with your left thumb and then releasing as soon as you get to shift gear. Thus running the 1/4 in regular mode and launching locked??
After all, the sophistication [ if that's the word ] of it, is not necessarey for that purpose. It just needs a live and return to lock it up.

Or use the handbrake switch
Much like David has already said but you dont need to go near the dccd. If you put the handbrake on the dccd will revert to fully open regardless of where it was set. If i remember rightly when you lift the handbrake the switch makes and connects the wire to ground. All you would need to do is add a normally closed switch in parallel with the original handbrake switch so that when the button is pressed it's like the handbrake being off, once your into 2nd or at whatever point you choose let go of the button and the dccd will go fully open.
Sure Andy.F used to do something similar a few years ago on his car when he ran a dccd, there's a video clip somewhere when he lets go of the button too early and smokes the rear tires!!
