I have bought a classic gearbox # TY 754 VB 1CA

Type R 4:444 with dccd.

I think the helical front lsd was optional on this spec.

How can you tell if it has one or not?

A plated diff is easy to tell, but not sure about a helical.

Any advice please?

Api will do an inspection for you before fitting

 

Officially, VB1CA is open front diff. usually if you turn one stump the other will go backwards to the one you are turning.

Impreza front diffs officially helical are

752 VB6EA

OR

754 VB1EA

Some late Legacy boxes have it too

754 VBACA 4.4 DIFFS but no other info except helical LSD

754 VBBCA No info at all except helical

Was looking to buy a front helical as one was recently available, but now gone...
Didn't want to buy one to find one inside (I should be so lucky)

As before David, box will come down to you for a looksee and a taller 5th in my .new. Type R box (which i got cheap as it has no dccd controller, but has a dccd)
