Paid that recently for a Kazz rear plated diff.on its own)
Not many people put plated diffs in the front though, usually helical, and that includes Subaru. This diff must be an aftermarket unit?

We will see.

Plated fronts are Ok if you run them at a low enough grip pressure. We would set them quite softly and so far customers have all commented on how much better they are than original tight spec.

NO, I won't tell you the setting you'll have to pay for that.........

PS We reset Kenny's road car one soflty, still great as far as l know.

Check my '6MT into a classic' thread in projects - I fitted a plated rear when fitting a JDM 6MT.

Yeah, sorry - David's site is still offline. Dumped 'em up on Fotopic; http://richard-dowsett.fotopic.net/c1065917.html - diff-1.jpg shows the plated I think (thumb not generated yet).

Nah,, no need !! those sandy bits are ' running in compound ' I think we'll get some and send it out with all our recon units. Where'd you get it from.

The Vers 3 car should have a plated rear lsd and a free front diff. Viscous on the centre on 4 doors and Dccd on type R and RA and 555 limited editions.

Dowser, you moved now then?? Dublin ??

Is that why my 6MT feels a bit worn David?

Yep - Dublin based since March, transferred with work. Just brought the car over, after finally getting the 2.5 motor fitted.

Hmmm, No don't think so, Grahams only just brought out his ' running in compound '

I suspect you've been setting ' the hills alight, to the sound of Subaru ' in Switzerland. And the chorus is ???

David, you need a holiday!

Are you SURE that my Sti v3 will have a plated rear? If so is there any point in keeping the plated 'Kazz' diff i have just bought as i guess the Subaru unit is prety good.

This is wheelspin:Please listen to the engine mid bend:
http://www.dropshots.com/daymainfram...0030101&cimg=1

The rear inside will lift easy when pushing on.

Can the Subaru unit be tightened?
I thought Sti RA's had plated, and the wimpy Sti had rear visc unit?
Both have open front.

Graham.

Plated ones can easily be tightened. At low speeds you will get an amount of noise, clicking and inside wheels scrubbing and hopping but once the diff has energy in it and you are pressing on it will be fine.

I can do that for you. We have the selective size LSD plates in stock from STi Japan

Front plated would be set very loose

As for which version has which diff and is limited from new is a murky one and I may be off the pace.

You never mentioned that Dave

Does turn in very nicely though - I've had to try very hard to unstick the back end, just about managed a twitch - hopefully the new box will make it easier

My rear diff is quiet, smoooooth and .....must be a viscous!

Jacked-up off the ground totally, the rear wheels rotate counter to each other not in the same rotation when you rotate one wheel. A plated diff will do same direction iirc unless it is knackered.
I'll remove the cover before the diff comes to you to see. Might save you removing my running-in compound.

Graham
