Blown yer box! - How did the car react?
Seen a few posts on here with people with wrecked boxes, can only assume that happened during vigorous driving, I've been wondering how the car reacted after?
I.e.
Did the wheels lock up?
Just lose power and coast to a halt?
Any rapid swerving or 'brown trouser' moments?
Curious as going for more power later in the year, and want to know what effect it will have on the box, say if failure occured. Any thoughts appreciated!

Yeah sounds familure, I blew third gear with a bit of spirited driving
I remember a loud bang followed by a very sickly feeling and a sound like someone dropping a bag of spanners in to a large metal box from a great height.
I was still able to coast and be towed home for the 30 odd miles .
Still it made way for the 6 speed

A gearbox doesn't "blow".....it's the bits inside that do.
Depedning on what breaks will depend on what happens. Normally you'll just lose drive totally or in one or more gears.
Worst case is everything in the box completely destructing itself and locking solid. Also the casing spliting and taking your front and rear diffs with the shock load.

Strangely, I thought of a 6MT the very same second
My car would move when in neutral. I could force the gear lever in gear, but the gears were locked solid. I spent 4 hours on a rescue car to get back to civilization, as I unfortunately attended a winter ice rally on a frozen lake up in the mountains. Bloody cold too...-20 degc, not a happy chap waiting for rescue

I expect my gearbox to develop a whine and droan at about 200,000miles ... and then be buried on a scrapyard in the year of our lord 2021.
Any earlier destruction and I have obviously been unable to drive properly ......
