Unhappy Problem Noise

This will be hard to describe but, here goes.

There is a sort of 'grinding' noise coming from the rear of my car. I presume that it's thru the transmission.

It is only noticable when I come off the throttle, car drives ok. I had a friend in the rear the other day, and he thought the noise was coming from just forward of the rear drivers side wheel.

I appreciate that it would be hard to diagnose whats causing this metal on metal noise without experiencing it first hand.

Has anyone had anything similar happen or any clues as to what it may be. And how much it might cost to put right.

My cars an MY94 WRX, by the way if it helps.

Thanks in advance.

Micky.

Had my car off the ground last weekend and no leaks from the diff. The diff oil was replaced at AS Performance under a year ago, so that should be ok. Think I'll have to pay Alyn a visit at the weekend, cos it's very annoying.
