Default redline 75w90 in Type R rear diff

Guys,

I want to change the oil in the rear diff of my type R. I have some Redline 75w90 and some 75w90NS kicking about. Are either of these suitable for the diff (which will be the lsd type)?

Also, how much oil do I put in? I've seen comments that the lsd takes up more space so you don't fill it brim full?

Thanks

David

It'll be fine - get it in there !!

Read the handbook and whatever it says to fill the diff put it in. Because the LSD takes up so much space, you will substantially underfill the diff if you just fill to the level plug. Tip the car up on one side by the jack to make sure the correct amount goes in.

Hey, thanks David!

And what about the gearbox? In my previous car I used Redline 75W90 and the gears started to balk after a while. I switched to 75W90NS and they were great. However, I believe the differentials in Type R's are different so maybe I shouldn't use the NS oil?

Either should be fine. Probably wear setting on the last time when your synchros started playing up. Oil can only do so much and only for so long......

Good luck - David
