Default Sticking clutch pedal and clutch slipping

Hi guys

I've got a problem with my Subaru The clutch pedal sticks and sometimes you have to hook your foot under the pedal and flick it back up. The problem is that sometimes though the clutch slips under boost even though the pedal is at the top and the clutch wasn't changed long ago so I know it is good.

what part of the clutch is causing it to do this?

Thanks.

Or its just missing the spring ontop of the clutch arm

Or the slave cylinder just needs bleeding

Slave cylinder is ontop of the box, under where the OEM intercooler is.

The spring is there and seems fine. Is it difficult to bleed the slave cylinder? I've done brakes before but never a clutch.

Thanks

No not that difficult, same principle as the brakes, just make sure the bleed nipple is higher than the rod of the cylinder.

If you take the cylinder off the gearbox, 2 bolts to remove, clamp the rod and cylinder, so that when you press the clutch, the rod doesnt decide to fly out.

Sounds like the pedal needs adjusting. There is a spring arrangement on the pedal assembly that is both a helper spring (pulls pedal down) and a return spring (pulls pedal up against stop). The point (of pedal movement) where this goes from a helper to a lifter is not adjustable, but the clutch master cylinder IS adjustable. You need to lengthen the rod that goes from the pedal to the master cylinder so that as you lift the pedal, the clutch is disengaged as you pass the point where the spring lifts the pedal up. At the moment, the clutch is nearly disengaged, but not quite, so the helper spring is still putting a noticable load on the clutch.

Thanks for the replies chaps I'll take a look at bleeding it over the weekend and take a look at the rod too.

Hopefully one of those will fix it because it's getting on my nerves.

Identical problem...just had a search about it, and found a picture someone kindly posted up of the location of the clutch release spring - which mine doesn't have!

Well that would explain why the pedal's reluctant to come back up and it feels so light. Anyone got one they don't need?
