Having clattered the limiter of 7500 in 6th on a uk box in my classic with a 2.5 and GT30 on 225/35/18 tyres it felt fast, not quite as fast as doing 194mph in the Lateral STi5 with more revs to go.

40/17 but waht width 215 or 205? It can make quite a different to the rolling circumference...
My car topped 166.6mph long before the limiter at Elvington on the 1.25 mile strip, with a a few mods and a UK 5 speed and left me holding the title of highest officially recorded Impreza top speed for all of 9 months It also went on to hit 7250rpm in top according to the Link logs taken on the same day

Ok, now we're cooking!
Right based on:
Type UK 6th gear which is rated at 24.5mph / 1k rpm
215/40/17 tyres which have 4.73% less rolling circumference than the Type UK's 225/45/17 tyres
At 6800 theory suggest that you aren't going to go faster than 159mph...
I was very happy with the officially recorded 166.6 (which oddly enough would have been your theoretical top speed if you had the 225/45/17 tyres fitted!), even more happy that it was happy to pull to 7250 rpm, which equated to 178! Not bad for a rattly old UK MY98 turbo witha few bolt of mods

Tim, i still find it hard to believe that you managed to get to 7250rpm at Elvington, and harder still that you managed to gain 500 AFTER the 1.25 mile marker. Thats some acceleration

Andy, sorry not entirely sure what you mean by slippage? If you mean on the rev counter; then I took it as 200 to 250rpm, if you mean on the Link datalog; I beleived it.
