Default Clunking noise from front LHS

On turning the steering on full right hand lock, I get a clunking noise from the front LHS, it sounds as if it's the drive shaft where it goes into the front diff, the noise also happens when reversing, it is not continious, but a clunk, then a clunk. Any ideas ??

The car is an STi tyrpe UK on a 52 plate.

Could be the CV joint I spose. Take a look as the boot may have split & thrown all the grease out? Mine did the same thing.

Could be the ball joint. Sometimes they clunk without looking too bad - I replaced mine as a last resort and it worked!
