Is my clutch goosed? Sti8
I've had my Sti8 for a couple of months now (53 plate) Ever since I've collected it I've smelt what appears to be the clutch burning when I'm reversing in to the garage. The garage is on a small incline so I have to reverse back quite slowly but never takes me no more than 20 seconds to get it in.
I dont get the same smell if I'm holding the car on the clutch on a hill say or a set of traffic lights (unless it's prolonged). I'm not seeing any noticeable slipping although I only drive it at weekends and it rarely sees a spirited drive.
Now the cars in for its service tomorrow (12 month/ 20k) with its current mileage at 15k. I obviously plan to ask them about it but does it sound like it may need replacing to you guys now or in the very near future?

I've got 4 or 5 2003 shape cars for sale and driving any of the very low mileage
[-10,000K ] ones, the clutch smells especially when doing tight 3 point turns.
I think it's just a characteristic of the cars and the 'high spots ' on the clutch friction disc take a while longer to burn off.
I wouldn't worry mate.

"They all do that!" - dealer excuse number 142, just between "Its not covered on the warranty as it is a consumable item" and "That's what Subaru told us to do".

very true ST but in fairness to KT Greens they had a brand spanker outside and reversed it up a slight gradient in their car park to prove their point. The bloody thing stunk to high heaven
Guess it really is one of the annoying characteristics of the car in general.
