not sure what you've been quoted, but at a guess David will be supplying a SUBARU new-age box.......................

so the quality, build, etc. are normal SUBARU spec..................

Well my box was supplied by API and made by Subaru in Japan.

No complaints from David and his Guys & Girl

1. It cost close to 2k so poor VFM
2. High
3. Heavy
4. Will take 500Ibs
5. Zero-It does nothing to performance, in fact it weighs another 30kgs at least
6. Dave Wallis has a spread sheet of the all the Subaru gearbox ratios

Nice 1 for the reply mate. The Price i was given was £1800 + Vat for box and new prop shaft, £2200 + VAT if the rear diff is different to the new box.

So is this a box you would recomend and are the ratio still nice and close?

Don't know yet, it's still not running under it's own power!

The JDM have shorter gearing, quick off the mark but lower top speed than the UK

Was thinking of geting 1 and just wanted to know what peep thought. Dave recons 1-5 is the same as JDM and 6th will drop about 280 - 300rpm of 5th. This sould give a top speed of about 190 he recons.

Think you will find the JDM box has the same first four gear ratio's as the UK 6 speed. 5th and 6th in the uk box is higher giving a top speed of 170 mph at 7250 rpm. The JDM box gives 154mph at 7250 rpm.

I run a jdm 6pd with dccd from david, 2.0l running 1.7 bar, 8000 rev limit,

Value for money? ; mine was around £2.5 with DCCD,prop shaft, gear change (no ****), I kept my standard rear plated diff (96 sti ra)

Quality? It`s handling somewhere around 400 + bhp , after 5000 miles no problems,

Build? ; It`s heavy and big, It fills the tunnel up and if he is still going to run top mount intercooler, may cause problems, as the extra weight is all low down, I did not find any handling disadvantages to it,
Strenth? it`s still going after 5000, my sti ra box let go of 5th, the day after it was mapped, on inspection, the rest of the box was good and it was down to too much power we think the original failed

Performance? similar to the RA box with 6th added, nice very precise change on it, suretrack diff takes a bit of getting used to if you have never driven front lsd/atb before,
Ratio? ; just under 22mph per 1000 rpm in top, ( around 3500 rpm on motorway is just right)

Have a good one
Tim
ps if he`s going to get one , go for the dccd, mine is a JDM
