Prodrive WR Sport Backbox
I've have the opportunity to buy a second hand WR Sport backbox for £80-90 plus £10 shipping. It's used but in 'excellent' condition - worth the money???

I think it's worth it, got mine off eBay for £120 inc postage. A massive improvement over the standard - sounds like it should now. No warranty or neighbour hassles either.....

I was hoping it would improve the sound, the standard box is VERY quiet.
Did you fit it yourself or pay get someone else to do it?

Good, that's exactly what I'm after. Some exhausts are way too loud IMO (fine if you're into that sort of thing) but as you say, I just want the burble back.....

The local garage fitted mine for a fiver. Took them five minutes on the ramp - 2 bolts to unscrew and three hangers IIRC. Anyone even slightly handy with a spanner could do it I suspect. Unfortunately, checking/topping up the oil is about my limit!
Sound wise it gives a lovely burble at idle and nice level of roar on acceleration. On the motorway you can hear it slightly but not loud enough to get annoying; you can easily drown it out with the stereo to be honest.

Yeah, piece of cake to fit. 14mm if memory cells working properly. I've got the PPP back on mine which is exactly the same except round out pipe instead of oval. I paid £100 and thought I got bargain.

Go for it.
I got one off ebil evay for around £110 (can't remember exactly) a little while back and was over the moon once I'd fitted it. Took my time, can of WD40, some exhaust jointing putty and a few spanners and your done. It's VERY easy and a nice introduction to working on your own car. It gives a lovely feeling of satisfaction to buy something for a bargain price, fit it yourself and be pleased with the results.
I do shift work and the subtle burble doesn't upset my neighbours either. Saying that, I conditioned them a while back with a barely silenced 7.5 litre V8 pick up truck at 6am...lol!!
Just do it...!!

Sounds like a great price if its in good nick. I put one on my MY01 WRX and was delighted - great sound track and also smoother throttle reponse. I'd never run another Scoobie on the standard backbox again.
I still put the window down occasionally to listen to the noise.....

You wont regret that box. I've just had mine done and cannot beleive the difference in the way the car sounds/feels. Haven't listened to any music since having it done!. Also, when cruising on a motorway, you wouldn't know its there.

Excellent - thanks for all the good advice and words of encouragement!!
I'm hoping to get it tomorrow so I'll let you know the outcome.
I love the sound of the flat4 when I hear other peoples Scooby's - my bugeye WRX always seems to be missing something and the burble (+ a soon-to-be ecutek remap ) should put my mind at rest for a while.
