Get it to a specialist and they'll run a diagnostic for you mate. Untill then drive it off boost. Could just be a dodgy sensor!

As above, sounds like a sensor failure and the ECU has gone into "get you home" mode. You need someone with a select monitor or go read the FAQ on the SIDC (www.sidc.co.uk) site as to how to read the diagnostic codes off yourself (with the check engine light).

Just spoke to JD Performance, booked in for next week, they think its a valve thats playing up, nothing dodgy, just needs to be driven off boost!!

A dodgy valve wouldn't cut the fuel and air!!!

Sounds like they are just preparing you for a LARGE bill ....................

And a Cocklink wouldn't worry you if you didn't have one!! Have you any idea how many noises happen when an engine coughs and splutters?? LOADS!! thats all it was picking up .... normal engine hesitation noises! .... don't worry - it's a sensor!!

Few quid should cure it ............................... dodgy valve my bottom

All in my humble, as always

I'll let you know then Pete!

The guys i take it to are very good at there job and he seemed to know what it was by my explanation straight away, so quite confident that its nothnig major!

Knocklink was installed before i had the car, its in a daft place anyway as you have to look over the steering wheel to see it so if it was flashing at me when i was going in a straight line id struggle to see it!

Oh and i hear a new noise everyday from the car some im getting used to it!

I am sure that they are really excellent at what they do ............... it's just that a valve problem was not what I thought of when I saw your explaination of what happens.

Valves just do not fail at one specific RPM, they tend to cough and splutter all the way through the rev range ............. in my experience, anyway.

Maybe they said the Boost Valve?? (or, Solenoid?) - That would explain it perfectly!!

There's me thinking the valve train

In that case they are probably correct, rest easy

Pete
