Megan / XS manifolds on Ebay, any good?
#2
If you do a search you will see that they normaly get a good rating, especialy the price !
However if you check out my post, "Anyone got Megan headers" You'll see that these particular ones don't have the usual Megan logo !
The seller has assured me that they are however the genuine artical, they certainly look well made.
I personaly would'nt go for the equal length XS one's though, stick with the Megans !
Jon.

remap...necessary..?
Removed drivers side heat sheld today off standard subaru header since had split at bolt and was rattling away... exhaust rusty as hec...well think you get the idea? So was also looking at EBAY
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...MEWA%3AIT&rd=1
IF I went for these would the car need to be RE-mapped..if so WHY
read on one site..about reset ECU by dis connecting battery....other POSTS recommending re map to get best poss performance.
what damage if any would be caused if just fitted the headers....no remap..?
new to scooby's so any advice appreciated...
cheers

Also will the car have to be remapped if a de-cat (downpipe) was fitted ?

I assume that will also be the case with an sti 3 ?
A decat downpipe on its own or with the rest of the exhaust can be fitted without a remap.

With reference to headers, ive been doing some research on them as im looking to change mine and i wouldnt but a set from ebay. Andy.
F has run a set of these for a bit to test them and had dramas. Cant remember what set they were but if you go the his website i think he tells you there. Or send him a pm.
And from what i gather, equal/unequal headers differ in more than just the note they produce. Was reading a thread on here last night about it and theres a more technical difference between them. Something to do with the balance in the engine.
Personally, i wouldnt use anything from ebay unless it had been tested on a dyno to prove bhp claims or used for six months by someone to prove reliability.

The headers that Andy F had problems with on the flex joint weren't Megans though were they ?
I havn't heard of problems with Megans but plenty of problems with leaking uppipe joint on headers such as Gruppe S.
Is it OK to wrap the OEM headers ?
Thought it wasn't advisable as they're cast and therefore could crack.
