Replacement Backbox
I have a MY99 and at the moment it is totally standard. A mate of mine keeps going on about how I should get more power out of it, but to be honest it is fast enough for me.
I do however fancy a deeper exhaust note. So my question is- If I replace just the backbox do I need to get it on a rolling road ? or can I just fit it and run as normal ?
I'm not that bothered about getting more power out of the car (at the moment). Then in the future I will start thinking about replacing the rest of the exhaust system. But due to funds I want to just do the back box for now.
I quite fancy the magnex oval box, anyone got one ? Any good ?
Cheers,
Paul

in the same position with a totally standard myoo jdm wagon and have decided to change the standard twin exit restrictive silencer and purchased a hardly used back box off a p1 for £40..stamped sti on the tailpipe....arrived today and looks great hopefully will release a little flat four burble as the standard system is very quiet

Nice one, cheers guys.
A bit of variety amongst the people here. To be honest I have always fancied the flat oval shape that the magnex do, so I think I will give that one a look. It can't be any quieter than the one I already have.
I'm the same as you rigga, I've got the twin box on my.

TSL Group N twin pipe for this chap, i'd reccomend
Looks standard but sounds amazing right through the rev range.
A lot louder than standard but still sensible - be warned that with some of the boxes people mention on here you cannot hold a conversation in the car without shouting and your neighbours crockery is going to be rattling in the cupboards when you go by. A lot of first timers end up going for one of these and have to change it for something quieter. TSL group N is bang on if you ask me.
IMHO the Magnex oval exit hole doesn't look right, also I like twins

Never mind "crockery is going to be rattling" when ever I go down to wales to my sisters caravan, my car makes the tv signal go all weird
Lid, what do you have on your current car ? Did the magnex sound ok ? Did it give off that burble on tick over ?

looks great and im sure sounds just as good but as a shift worker driving home at about 4-5 am it would be way too loud for me.....got slated for the magnex on my last car kept waking the wife and nipper up....would love one though as ive seen and heard a few liberated impreza's lately and the sound is unique to say the least

Do you ever sleep ?
Carl, been checking about the magnex and this it what it says
"A one piece stainless steel system which fits directly on to the Catalytic Converter, with no modifications required."
So it looks like it isnt just the back box, but the cat back+
