Default Which UK Scoob had the strongest gearbox?

I am going to replace my gearbox, but I want to fit one that's not gonna fall apart in 5 mins. I don't rag my car at all really, and it's only running about 240BHP, so, Is a standard MY00 uk gearbox still ok, or will a UK300 or an STI UK box be better???? Any thoughts??

Cheers

Peanuts, how much u want for the UK box?
Could really do with a broken 99/00UK box to build new gear kit into, just need casing, 5th gear and diffs.
But might just buy a workin one if the price is right.

PM if u like

Dan.

Unhappy

You can have mine, rattles in every gear, and at least tow teeth missing from fifth. Rebuild coming after the NBO.

I have a MY00 Uk turbo box fitted to a 97 UK running 380bhp and thus far I haven't had an issue (touch wood).

I overfill the gearbox oil though by about 1/2 litre past the max mark to make sure 3rd gear gets well coated.

Hope that gives you some comfort.

I always put 4.5 litres in the 5 speeds, ever since my 1st one died after the garage did an oil change and only put 3.8 in it. Never had a problem.

this is good news for me to be hearing , , sorry to hi-jack...

my scoob uk my00 was rolling roaded at 347.7. bhp / 332 lbs/ft torque
i've been looking for an sti 5 or 6 saloon box and diff but this sounds cheaper lol
im going pod in 10 days and am expecting to be trailored back but think ill just go and wopp some more oil in it

rich - what torque is yours bud ?
and which box oil do you use ? or are they all the same ?
