Gearbox swap on a Classic, How easy is it??
Bearing in mind, the last time I did anything like this, was 20 years ago on my Escort Mk1, and on my Datsun 120Y on my own Is it a case of a few bolts here and there and the four drive shafts???? Just gaugeing if it is a DIY or a professional job. Im guessing the latter

Really depends on the confidence in your own abilities, and how you cope if something goes a bit wrong.
I have done several, probably pushing 20, box changes now, and the times vary wildly, from 3 hours out and in, to 7 hours out (everything that could go wrong, went wrong).
If you want any help, drop me a pm

IMO, it is an easy job in comparison to some other cars, IF you have the right facilities and tools for the job.
Paying someone else really takes all the fun and satisfaction of completion out of it
I admit it can be a b@$tard though

Agree.
I have a double width garage and some tall axle stands and that is it.
Having done just 3 gearboxes/rear diffs it is just such a slog (keeps you fit though)
and a bit boring now.
First time was a good feeling that I won the fight!
I can get my 911 engine/trans out and back in in the time it takes ME to get the Impreza's trans out.
Always work on cars on my own though.
