It's a cheap and effective way of getting more bang out of your car by upping the boost!

BUT

Boost level is just one parameter determining performance, it should be adjusted in conjuction with fueling, air and ignition parameters (which Dawes doesn't do). AFAIK the rich running of an Impreza together with its rather good ECU give enough margin of error for some people to have got away with running one that only ups the boost slightly, but its a gamble, and you'll always be inclined to notch it up a bit more untill BANG!!

If you want to increase your performance its much safer to go for a proper remap!

Simon,

Not my words mate (I'm a technical ludite), I'm going on the info on the Ecutek site:

"The standard 99/00 model year Subaru Impreza ECU is extremely powerful. It contains a 32-bit RISC processor running at 20MHz, which can easily perform the tasks required of it, and in a more flexible manner than many other systems. Because of all this spare power, the ECU is able to send and receive diagnostic data as fast as the diagnostic lines can take it".

To a PC user 20MHz, seems painfully slow, but then again, the scooby doesn't have to run Windows!

For what it has to do in the car, 20MHz is pobably more than adequate.

I'm sure there are better aftermarket alternatives out there though.

All the best,

Paul.

Nonsense.

Its very safe to do. Just have a search on how to set it up.

I've had a tek3 on just a de-cat and then sold it and went to a dawes device. I couldnt tell any difference in performance.

My views based on MY99/00 uk.

Just over 1.1bar with the AE800.

Makes a big difference just going from AE802 to AE800.
