Think I’ve just got a weird one !!!
Most of the cv joints are 155mm long, mine is 145mm and I couldn’t get one for love nor money.
After changing the complete shaft it felt fine then took it for a long run on Sunday and guess what …. Its still doing it !
Only thing left to change is the wheel bearing!!!!
So guess what I will be doing this weekend??
Alyn, cheers for your help and assistance its much appreciated.
How did the rally go ??

had kinda the same problem.
had drivers side outer joint replaced ,still had noise, changed passanger side, noise went away for 2 days, then back ,then tried full set of reconed shafts, went away noise back 2 days later, another set of shafts same thing replaced with OEM subaru shafts noise away for 2 days, then guess what back again! no play/noise/etc from wheel bearings, but was going to change them as running out of ideas after 2 outers and 3 pairs of shafts.my mechanic mate took the wheels of to have a look, put them back on went for a drive , no noise ?next day the left wheel was making the same noise , tightened up the wheel nuts on that side and it went away.garage had always torqued the nuts to 110NM, but my mate just done it by hand (obviously tighter).explained this to the garage , couldnt believe this. they took wheels of cleaned /copper greased the faces of wheel and bell, torqued them to the same as always , now done 450 miles(hard miles , was on sidc highland run) and still no noise
no understandy?
went back to garage after 100 hard miles and they checked the wheel nut torque, which was exactly the same?
