Gearbox noise after after hard use?
I seem to be getting a slight whining noise from the box after it has been through a couple of high speed/load runs. It then completely dissapears when the engine/box cools down.
Now, I have changed the gearbox oil recently, but it did it before this with the old oil in. The level is the same now as it was before.
With the clutch in and revving the engine it still does it. Input shaft?
Any ideas?
Wayne.

Hi, I know this may sound daft...but it's not the power steering pump whinning?...I thought I had a box problem on a 99 because I heard the sound when changing down...or so I thought...it was the turning that was causing the noise..only when warm and often accompanied by changing gear!...If it is the box it sounds like the input shaft bearings a likely candidate..
