Overboosting? HELP!!!
Hi, i finally worked out why my car was underboosting. Someone who owned the car before me had replaced the boost control solenoid and tonight i wondered if the 3 hoses had been reconnected to the right places. So i checked on my mates car and all 3 of them were in the wrong place! lol
After correcting that problem i took it out for a spin and instead of the boost peaking at 7.5psi it now peaks at 16 ish. I have been told that it should not be boosting this high, it is more like 14. Could this be the reason why as soon as it boosts above 15psi the car kicks back, like the fuel has cut off. Someone suggested that it was a fuel cut defender or something that was stopping the car from boosting too much???
As far as i know the car has not been 'played' with at all, completely standard. Therefore as far as i know i have 2 options. 1) reduced the boost 2) fit a manual fuel cut defender. Is the car OK running at this high boost?
My car is a 1992 WRX import. Cheers for any help people.
