Default Vortex / Ninja

Anyone had experience of the ninja and a vortex backbox? How does the sound compare to one another?

Never had a vortex but I did have the Ninja and I rekon its the best flat four sound there is yet quiet on motorway driving.

Another vote for the Ninja from me. Go to www.scoobyworld.co.uk as they have soundclips of each there.

I've got the Vortex Centre & Tail, Yes it is loud but deep with it, not to bad on the motorway though when cruising. Sounds the nuts, can't remember the last time I had my stereo on whilst driving!!!!!!!!

Can't believe what a massive difference the Ninja has made. Should have been the first thing I bought, not a lump of (rather nice!) fibreglass!!

Ninja sounds and looks fantastic. But It's not too loud on the motorway at all. Turn the radio on and you'll not hear it.

But you can hear it burble on tick over and it sounds oh so sweet on take off

And quick service from Scoobyworld too

I have had the Ninja and now have the Vortex. Depends on what you want....they are different beasts.

The ninja makes a very nice flat four burble on just its own...not too loud. On a decat down pipe it became somewhat louder, but then you will get that with a decat down pipe. When i removed the centre cat it became noticibly deeper in tone. Still comfortable noise levels to drive with. I like it very much.

The Afterburner Vortex....i have the angled exit....is much, much louder and deeper...in your face rawness. At times in can get too much on a longer journey and drone, but i love its deep rumble and it's incredible crack when you floor it....really does sound like an aircraft afterburner on throttle.

Performance wise, i think scoobyworld claim you get that little bit extra with a Vortex on a full decat. It certainly felt like i was getting some extra torque when i changed from a Ninja. However, when i had mine rolling roaded with a friend of mine....we had identical cars except he had a ninja and i had a vortex, there wasn't much difference. He had alittle more bhp and i had alittle more torque.

both are well made boxes....if your worried about loudness don't go for the afterburner. By the way, i really don't think the sound clips of the exhausts on the scoobyworld site give you an acurate profile....better to hear them both in the flesh if you can.

hope this helps.

I have the Ninja too and can only agree....great sound, even louder now the centre section is non-resonating, but stereo on and motorway cruising you don't notice it....unless you want to of course....I've still got standard downpipe and cat pipe and yet i get some very satisfying pops when i floor it!!!
Plus it looks better than the Vortex IMHO!

I love the sound my vortex makes, sounds nice and deep but if your after something a little quieter the ninja may be the better bet as on a long motorway run the vortex can drone a little. It is a quality system though so try and have a listen to both.

Ninja is the dogs! lol.
Went to Scoobyworld and bought me a Ninja, and one phone call later and a quick trip to TSL, it is on the car. What a difference! I have a burble now.
Not too sure about the motorway speeds yet, not done it for long enough to really tell.
But a definate nice sound compared to the Subaru pish i wasted my money on.

Nothing the cheaper PPP wont give you! LOL.
Been rolling roaded twice now, both the same by 1bhp, 268 bhp with 266 ib/ft.
Next step really is stuff like headers, TMIC, Turbo (like one of Andy Forrests lovely TD04 Hybrids), injectors, then another remap, LOL. It never ends.
Mind you, funds help, of which i am lacking atm

Thumbs up

Bloody hell! Fitted the Ninja tonight, WOW! what a difference, beautiful sound, just right, wish I'd done it ages ago, still smiling now.
Glad I didn't get the Afterburner now, think I might of fallen out with the neighbours. Well recommend one.
(I think I've calmed down now )

You dont know my neighbours .
Just got the centre cat removed. I just imagined that comparing it to the sound I now have, the Afterburner would have been a bit much for me, just what you get used to I guess

Hmmmmmm

Over the weekend I changed my manifold, up-pipe downpipe and centre cat, and fitted an afterburner b/box replcing my ninja on a MY02 WRX
Holy ****
The noise is truley loud..... The jury is still out on the Afterburner backbox not sure I like the sound of it, its totally different to the ninja. Although the noise is changing slightly as it gets some carbon on the system.... But Im missing the deep burble of my ninja.

May give it a week and re-try my ninja on the back. Think there should be a big difference in sound.

Any opinions ?

Louder stormmy for sure. I had the Scorpion backbox, which is similar specs to prodrive box, albeit on a newage. But i think classics sound better anyway. So i would think it would sound ace myself.

Thumbs up just fitted Vortex..........

Just fitted the Vortex at the weekend and f*ck me what a silly looking grin I am stuck with! V-loud though, just ran up the M1 to work today and maybe it's a bit much, the jury is out on that one. I think maybe I will get a job closer to home!
