RA low ratios TOO LOW!
dont mind 1st to 4th, but 5th is a pain on the motorways, almost flat out at a steady 100mph
what can be done to comprimise, should i try a different 5th gear? if so which one? dont want a laggy change from 4th.
peccy - my95 WRX RA.

box from a Vlimited?
RA ratios 1-4 and UK equivalent 5th??
not 100% but might be worth asking about.. try Fellie- he had a Vltd so he could tell you for certain.

Peccy,
Not sure what ratios your gearbox has. But maybe the 5th gear from a TypeR would work, I think a UK 5th would be too much of a gap from 4th.
Try David at API as he fitted a UK 5th to my 22b for better cruising.

I didn't know if the RA short gearing came from the ratios or the final drive, if its the final drive then UK should be OK.
To give you some idea, on mine it went from 4k at 80mph to 3.2k at 80mph. Which may not sound much but the gap from 4th to 5th is still not that big. And it does help a lot on motorways.

peccy, i think it will be cheaper to fit a wrx box and diff
most uk boxes need a 3.54 rear diff so you have to get rear diff as well

We do this all the time for RA boxes.
Your type number sticker is on the clutch housing close to the starter, it's a white label with black printing.

Which one .78:1 .73:1 or .825:1 ??
.825 : 1 would be best the others offer too high a drop in revs.
