I give up! Where is has my boost gone?
Ok, I've trawled through as many boost related threads as I can stand and I still haven't found the answer.
I have a 98 MY Impreza Turbo with the following modifications:
PPP ecu
Sti Panel filter
Prodrive Back Box
ScoobySport centre
Dawes device (set at 16 - 17psi)
All has been great for about a year until a few days ago when I felt the car surging slightly with a small loss of boost. Unplugged the MAF and the car didn't cut out. Easy I thought New MAF,reset ECU, problem solved.
Well kind of. No more surging but definatly more severe loss of boost!
I've cleaned out the Dawes Device & pipe work, checked for split pipes and air leaks, checked oil level, disconnected battery for 30 mins but still feels flat with no "kick" at all especially over 4000rpm. I would describe the loss as putting the old ECU back on. The car has only covered 40k, been regularly serviced and fed on Optimax.
Any help would really be appreciated!
Thanks. Matt.

Hmmmmm, you have a very similar user name to me
Have you checked that the wastegate control arm hasn't come adrift? On my MY99 the spring washer holding it all together mysteriously came adrift one day, while it was on boost. Wondered what on earth I'd done to it until I found out what was wrong! The pulsing you were getting may have been the arm only just in contact with the wastegate or something.
BTW, the pulsing most people experience, especially during warm-up, is usually lambda not MAF related

The boost is now around the 14psi mark which is 3psi down on what the PPP ecu should be delivering. No fault codes.
I've just checked the wastegate arm and all is ok there. I think the next step is to remove the mechanical boost controller and let the old Subaru solenoid do its thing. Never really trusted them though as they are a bit unreliable (clogging with oil etc).
After that I really am stumped!!
