As title really? do they assist in the lifespan of the gearset of can they have the reverse effect if the grip of the clutch is that much stronger?

Depends what you mean by better. I think the biggest impact will be the operative and how the car is driven.

well my car has been and will be used again on track, i am sympathetic on gearchange but im curious to know (as my OE clutch is coming to the end of its lifetime) if an uprated, i.e. higher pressure clutch is actually better for the box. Im going on the premise that im running around 290-300lbft which the standard jobs having trouble with.

neil i would say with your setup your ok about your gearbox, get a good rated one put in now so you wont have to think about it later

Look at the organic range from AP but bear in mind that if it fails don't mention track work. If you don't do a lot of road mles then consider a sprung paddle clutch. They all use the same cover but are able to deal with standing starts etc better.

In the end all are made by the same manufactor.

i agree, thankfully the one i have should last me till japfest then ill replace it. For the next 6 months ill probably do less than 1000 miles in it so it should be fine. Its just that the gearchanges are becoming a little too clunky for my liking so know the writings on the wall so to speak!!
