Question BHP at wheels?

What does 210BHP at wheels equate to at the flywheel on a 03 WRX? Can torque figures also be taken at the wheels as opposed to flywheel?

Think I have cracked it - my best mate told me that to calculate flywheel HP on a scoob you multiply wheel HP by 1.7571 - therefore my WRX 03 is making a heft 369bhp at flywheel. Wow!!!! Only mod I have got is a Genome Sti back box - I,m chuffed to bits - what mod next I wonder - guess an air filter should get me over the 400 mark - TOTBIV here I come - be ready!

I take it it's a JDM WRX you have? 369 bhp is still rather a lot though, think your calculation might be wrong

About 250bhp. more trans losses on a 4wd than a 2wd though. figure is approx.

Yeah it is a JDM - make reckons that calculation is on the safe side - could even by more - multply by 1.843765 and you get over 387bhp at the flywheel. He also said that to calculate torque you multiply flywheel bhp by 1.3554 - that means my WRX 03 isrunning 524lb/ft torue - looks like I need a new clutch - any recommendations?

iirc:

FWD 12-15% Transmission Loss
RWD 17-19%
AWD 22-25%

so 270-280

Do you mean I could be getting even more torque than that? Could I install a clutch from say a diesel lorry - which is used to very high torque anyway?

You'll need more than that for totb... I suggest you try scoobyshootout instead.

Thanks everyone - my original question was serious - I just had to elaborate to get a response - I am picking up a JDM 03 WRX on Friday and know it has been dyno'd at 210bhp at the wheels - just wondered whatthis was at flywheel so I could compare to my much loved MY97 Sti (300+ Bhp) which will be going.

I guess from comments I am in the 250/260 range.

Cheers
