Which is bigger (capable of most power) a vf35 or a TD05FE?

How do they compare for lag?

just curious as i was gonna go down the TD05 route on the same car.

i think the td05 is bigger but the vf35 spool's up a lot quicker with less turbo lag because it's a bearing type turbo, i think the vf35 is good for about 350 bhp which was high enough for me as i will not be going above that

Thats about tops on the TD05 from what i've read.

So if the VF35 spools up faster maybe i'll consider one of those. (i'm assuming there a direct replacement to the TD04)

yes a straight swop but if you buy any of the vf range you will need to change the banjo bolt to reduce the oil flow to the turbo as they require less then the td series

a remap with bob will cost you 650 + vat but it's worth every penny i'm running at the moment
3-port boost solenoid
k&n induction
forge recul d/v
vf35
h/s lagged dp
afterburner center
ninja b/b
sti i/c
sti 8 scoop

the differance from the vf30 and 35 is the smaller P15 exhaust housing on the 35 so it will spool up quicker which is what i wanted but it is all do to individual need but they are all good turbo's

id be prone to lean to the TD05FE for the simple reason that its sleave bearing and not roller will handle quite a bit of boost nicely and also is cheep to rebuild as aposed to the ball bearing units while only scrificing a small amount in spool up ...

I thought the VF34 was roller bearing and the VF35 wasn't. The JDM VF35 may be a roller bearing though just to confuse things...

The TD05 is tough and can be bought relatively cheaply but the spool may not be as good. IMO the TD has greater scope if you can sacrifice the spool.

The later VF's are tougher than the earlier versions that have been know to explode with too much boost!

Craig5, nice spec but which STi I/C? 5, 6, or 7/8?

VF34 is roller bearing, P18 Exhaust Housing

VF35 is sleeve bearing, P15 Exhaust Housing.

Correctly mapped, you certainly have the parts to allow 300bhp +
