Question for GEMS/MoTec/APEXi ECU owners?
Fingers crossed and I'll be acquiring another scooby in the near future.
It's likely to be a Jap STI of some flavour (i've had a UK MY99 and a P1 before this) and it'll probably end up being a bit of a project vehicle.
I'd be after a new exhaust/air filter early on, and would like to have the engine mapped for SUL or Optimax for safety.
Assuming my ECU isn't going to be remappable, how much (roughly) is it going to cost me to get a GEMS/MoTec/APEXi supplied/fitted/mapped along with any other necessary bits?
I've read on here that other bits will most likely be needed, such as fuel pressure regulator, boost soleniod etc.
Not aiming for huge power, just a safe (det-free) map with slightly more power than standard - but with the option to go bigger later and add anti-lag.
Any tips greatly appreciated, just trying to get a rough idea of costs so i can plan ahead.
Edited: Extra question, i gather GEMS and MoTec can control the DCCD on a car with that fitted, what exactly do they do with the DCCD with it under ECU control?

For the road I have Apexi FC from Andy, and its spot on.
GEMS needs another ecu to control the dccd. This plugs into the engine ecu as it takes readings from throttle position sensor. We've just had it fitted to my mates rally car. It allows you to select preset maps which alter the way the diff locks and opens under acceleration and braking. Its about another £500 fitted.

Sounds like i'd be leaning towards GEMS then if I can afford it. I've always wanted a mild ALS just for fun.
I'll have to see how it goes and how much the base vehicle costs.
APEXi does sound like a tempting alternative though, if I can live without ALS and auto diff control.
Cheers all

The Gems DCCD controller is totally seperate from the engine ECU.
I've got an Apexi and its been mapped with a sort of anti-lag, get some nice pops and bangs on overrun when its hot. Remember you retain the MAF with the Apexi, so it depends on whether you want that or not.
Think GEMS is about £1500 fitted, MoTeC is from about £1500 to £3000 depending on mapper and which MoTeC ECU you choose.
Dave.

Apexi Power FC is a superb ECU, but hasn't inbuilt anti lag or diff controll, although you can monitor engine/ECU parameters ( And mini remap ) with the extra hand controller... when mapped well they work wonderfully .. I'd go for one again!

Hmm, hadn't realised the MoTec/GEMS cost quite that much (was expecting around £1k all-in).
Looks like APEXi is the front runner then, just need to find a car to put it on now.
Cheers for the tips
