Few questions first...
What model is your car?
Does your car have ABS?

I have a jdm 6speed with dccd and rear diff.
The simple solution is to create a chip (pulse width modulation?) which allows you to use a potmeter with variable volts between 0-12v. The Diff is 1.2 ohm and you gotta use a PWM because there are no 8Ampere potmeters as far as i know. But i'm an electric noob

Any better solutions are welcome

Can anybody elaborate on this (or translate to an electrical thick-oh)?

DCCD Control Kit

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  RST-1100kit Subaru 5MT & 6MT w/ DCCD $788

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Control kit includes all parts necessary to make the STi Driver Controlled Center Diff. functional. Kit includes genuine STi control unit, thumbwheel switch, and wiring harness. For manual DCCD operation only. Does not include instrument cluster display. Wiring harness is older version and requires some cutting and splicing when fitting due to changes in connector designs. Wiring info provided.

But i still find that to much money, so i'm working on an alternative but i'm also an electric N00B

All cars with DCCD tranny will have a DCCD controller. Some of the newer cars will have the integrated harness. 5MT DCCD are all manual only while 6MT DCCD has auto mode and supports ABS. You would need at minimum the DCCD transfer case (with the diff in it of course) plus the wiring and the controller. Manual mode should be doable just that sourcing the transfer case by itself is much harder than getting a whole DCCD tranny.

I fitted DCCD to me 95 RA, i used a controller and loom from a sti6 type R.

I have a diagram somewhere with, with the pinouts of the controller and where to route them. I do NOT have it to hand right now, but it's probably the easiest way to do it.

Failing that a PWM circuit which can control it is the way to go. You should use a relay to control the input power, switched by ignition, and the normal controller has an input from the handbrake to open the diff. Much of what it does is the strip of LEDs to tell you how locked it is, but this can easily be replicated too.

Old thread this one but was searching on this subject... can you tell me what actual parts are required to convert a stock MY99 STi ? The loom & controller I understand but what other parts would be required from say a written off Type R? Cheers

Got a lot on map & turbo next month... so would not be for a while.. interesting if the parts can be had from a breaker for a *do-able amount of money...
