power steering 94 wrx

i have a 94 wrx the steering is stiff when idling seems ok when driving but does'nt feel right i have a wire going to back of steeing pump but seems to have no effect when disconnected
can anyone tell me what the wire does
and is it normal for the steering to be stiff at idle

Try adding afew full stops next time m8, i'm out of breath now! Have you checked the obvious things like fluid level and how tight the belt is on the pump?

I HAVE THE SAME THING WHEN ON IDLE THE STEERING IS STIFF, BUT WHEN ADD REVS IT IS OK.
DID YOU FIND OUT WHAT IT IS OR DID YOU GET IT REPLACED.
DID YOU STRIP IT DOWN
