Default Help!! - Gearbox oil leaking after change

I recently changed my gearbox oil myself and have just noticed that it appears to be leaking slightly. A small drip of oil is forming on the plug, but I have checked it and its done up really tight. I got under the car yesterday and gave it a clean up and couldnt see any oil escaping from the plug area.

When I changed it I didnt change the washer under advice from fellow Snetters, could this be the problem? or should I have used some ptfe tape on the thread.

The other thing is I recently moved house and my new drive slopes down slighty could it be overflowing very slightly from somewhere and dripping from the plug?

What should I do next?

Cheers
Jake.

It didnt look like a compression washer to me, just a standard washer with a kink in it to stop it turning when doing up.

I guess that means ditching the oil and replacing again.

Any idea what size washer I would need to get?

Jake.

Same size as sump plug from memory.

It certainly shouldnt be a spring washer.

A load of ptfe should work too, with a normal washer.

Find a clean tub big enough to take 4+ litres, drop the oil, replace the washer, ptfe the thread or whatever, then re use the oil.

P20, sounds like a plan so I can use an engine sump plug washer?
