Default What's the difference..........

...........between an MY01 JDM WRX Gearbox and an MY01 UK WRX Gearbox.

There is plenty on SN about the difference in the STI boxes but not the WRX.

Secondly, is there a way of distinguishing between the two with a visual inspection.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks

Martin

Rusty had problems rebuilding his JDM bugeye gearbox and had to get parts from Japan. I also think the ratio's are different AFAIK.. Where's API David ??

'ere I are !!

JDM boxes are 1:1 drive out the back and have both axles of the same ratio. UK / european boxes are 1.1:1 ratio through the box and have a 3.9 front diff and a 3.5 rear diff. lt cuts down prop shaft speed and reduces NVH [ noise, vibration, harshness.]

UK / Euro boxes will be TY 754 [or earlier TY 752] V N ***
JDM boxes will be ditto ditto V B ***

You cannot put a VN where a VB was / is or vice versa.

That help??
